One of the main direction of «Soros Foundation-Kyrgyzstan» activity is providing grants, which may be used for philanthropic purposes. The Foundation provides grants to physical and legal persons, whose activity corresponds to the Foundation's mission.

A Grant - is a free financial help for realization of initiatives, directed at building an open society and development of social areas.

The Receiver must use a grant strictly for the specified goal, without the right to extract profit for the entire term that the Agreement of grant issue is active, which is made in a mandatory order between the Foundation and Receiver of the grant.

Grant activity of «Soros Foundation-Kyrgyzstan» is determined and regulated by grant procedures, and also legal documents, which regulate financial activity of Kyrgyz Republic organizations.

Grant procedures of the «Soros Foundation-Kyrgyzstan»  include:

1. Acceptance and registration of grant documents
2. Procedure of application review
3. Grant financing and reporting
4. Project monitoring
5. Grant closures.

Control for execution of grant procedures is carried out by the Program of «Soros Foundation-Kyrgyzstan» in the framework of which the grant was issued, and also grant department of the Foundation with financial department.

Decisions to provide grants are made by the expert commissions of programs based on the results of competitions or special projects declared through mass media. Decision to finance a competition is made at the meeting of the expert commissions of the programs or during the meeting of the Board during program budget affirmation.

To receive a grant it is necessary to provide an application in the form specified by the conditions of the competition and affirmed by «Soros Foundation-Kyrgyzstan» .

Grant may not be used by the Receiver to finance political parties, mass public organizations, movements, which pursue political goals, and also goals, not specified by the conditions of the Agreements.

Grants may be recalled on the basis of failure to comply by the Receiver according to the Agreement on the grant issue, for example, not for purpose use of the grant, providing false information, systematic violation of the grant work schedule and etc. Decisions to recall the grant are made by the Board of the Foundation and expert committees of the programs.
